Why have a naming ceremony, and why have a celebrant to officiate?
Your naming day can be as cosy and intimate or as lively and celebratory as you want! Whether you’re welcoming a new name for a child or celebrating a gender transition, you have the freedom to present this new chapter in a way that truly reflects its significance. For a child, you can share why their name is just perfect for them. For a gender transition, it’s your chance to proudly announce your new name and who you are.
You can also highlight any special role models who have or will have an impact from family (godparents, grandparents) to friends and mentors who have been there for you. The ceremony can include meaningful readings, songs, and symbolic gestures - like planting a tree - that celebrate the person and their name.
Having a celebrant-led ceremony means that all the emotion and significance you want to share is clearly communicated with warmth and care. A celebrant will get to know the person’s story, the meaning behind the naming, and its importance to you and your loved ones, crafting a ceremony that truly does justice to this special occasion.
My goal is to create a heartfelt and unique celebration that truly honours the individual being named and makes the day special for everyone involved!
What do I offer as a celebrant for your naming ceremony?
As the celebrant for your naming ceremony, I’m here to make sure it’s as personal and memorable as possible!
Firstly, we will sit down together and chat about the person being named, whether it’s a newborn or someone transitioning genders. I want to hear all about them, what makes this naming special, and any little details to make the ceremony uniquely yours.
After that, I will go away and curate a ceremony that fits your vision and identity. I can include all sorts of personal touches and symbolic gestures, any readings and music that embody the person being named, and give special acknowledgements to any important role models. If it is for a gender transition, I will make sure to celebrate and announce the new name with all the pride and significance it deserves.
Throughout the planning, I am your go-to for guidance and support on the ceremony aspects. On the day, I ensure that the ceremony is handled with care and truly reflects your personal values and the significance of the occasion. You will feel completely in safe hands.
I have trained at the International College of Professional Celebrants, in which I was immersed in the world of celebrancy. I went through extensive training about ceremonies, rituals, and how best to support my clients.
